Kompara.me now compares close to 5,000 medicines in Costa Rica

Kompara.me compares the price of close to 5,000 medicines across pharmacies in Costa Rica and shows, for each presentation, where it costs least and when that price was last verified.
Built by digital product lab 2labs, the service runs in the browser and on WhatsApp, and is preparing an expansion over the coming months in both catalogue and reach.
A catalogue that covers what people actually buy
Close to 5,000 products means most everyday searches — chronic treatments, generics, the refill that comes round every month — now return an answer. And the comparison is made on the same presentation: same active ingredient, same dose, same number of units. That is the only way comparing prices means anything at all.
Why comparing changes the bill
The gap between pharmacies for one and the same medicine is far from small. Kompara's own catalogue contains cases where the highest price is more than three times the lowest, for exactly the same presentation.
Until now, finding that out meant phoning or walking from one pharmacy to the next. Kompara puts it on a single screen:
- The lowest price is flagged, with no advertising and no sponsorships: nobody pays to come out on top.
- Every price states when it was last checked, so that no one decides on stale data without realising it.
- Results can be sorted by distance from the person searching, because the lowest price does not always justify the trip.
What is coming in the next few months
The planned expansion moves on three fronts:
- A larger catalogue, covering presentations and brands that are not yet listed.
- More countries: the site's country selector already lists Panama as the next market after Costa Rica.
- Mobile apps, announced as coming soon, alongside the web and WhatsApp.
It used to be called FarmAhorro
Kompara.me is what FarmAhorro became: the same service under a new name. Anyone who bookmarked the old address need do nothing, as farmahorro.app redirects automatically to the new domain.
